It's been amazing to see the outpouring of love for our wonderful Minori, but in no way surprising. She was a unique and lovely individual; uniquely and hugely talented, without a doubt, but most of all a uniquely beautiful spirit and personality. She was *immediately* your friend - she was so generous with her affection and loyalty.

A wonderful story here about a youngster (15!) who via his own research at home worked out that Mayan cities were linked to the position of major stars in constellations. He's being lauded for his tenacity in research, but IMHO it's his logic jumps and abilty to see the big picture - very literally, here! - that are the key.

I caught the end of the BBCs "Chain Reaction" on the radio in the car earlier today. It was a discussion between Adam Buxton and Graham Linehan. Very funny, and very, very interesting about the process of creating, working in a partnership (or not, and what happens when the spark isn't there anymore), how to get motivated, the horror of first drafts, the ego as writer and how to get beyond that stage. I shall be listening again, and others may also find it thought-provoking. :))

"Stop nagging,,
I'm flagging,
You know as well as I do that the pipes need lagging.
I can't do it, I can't do it, toniiight...!"

Many have written, all over the Web, about the loss of Victora Wood, a loss from which I am still reeling. This is my contribution and it mainly revolves around her lyrics.

Well here we are - twenty years to the day TS first aired. Though I only heard of the show about three years ago, I feel honoured and privileged to be part of the wonderful community of fans who keep the love alive. :))

If you haven't already, check out the Nostalgia Big Bang!

I was sorry not to participate much in TS Chat last night - it was an epic night! I have spent time catching up today. I laughed with you, I cried with you, on the TSbyBS rewatch. At times, I was crying with laughter - Rafe! Yes! I've always thought that about him in this episode! So much is owed to [livejournal.com profile] snycock for all her work on Chat. It is a great event each Saturday and I hope even more people will come and join us there!

Finally, I have created my own little tribute to TS - on Vimeo here:

When prompted, please enter the password ' anniversary20 '

And to those friends who might look askance at this because I still owe them auction vids - I apologise again for the delay, but I really hope my vidding mojo is back this time!

I am probably late to the party again here, but  have just learned, via the lovely [livejournal.com profile] alobear, about the Fandom Weekly Challenge/Competition on Dreamwidth. The rules etc are here:

http://fandomweekly.dreamwidth.org/profile

but in brief, you post work of 1000 words or less written to a specific main prompt and get extra points for including a bonus prompt. The fics are the judged weekly by members of the comm.

I would not want necessarily to encourage people to forsake our comms on LJ for this, but it occurred to me that, as the 20th anniversary of The Sentinel draws near, taking part occasionally might help bring our own fandom(s) to the attention of writers and readers who have not come across them before.

I've just managed finally to watch an episode of the new series, and following [livejournal.com profile] kernel1 's post recently about the shock of seeing it all again, I felt compelled to post.

Mainly I want to ask - what the hell is going on with Duchovny? The monotone voice and static face had its charms way back when, but right now he looks... stuffed, poor lad. And whereas in the old days both managed to spout the daft lines about aliens and monsters with a fair degree of conviction, here they seemed to to be on the edge of giggles all the time. But maybe they were - "Mulder and Scully meet the WereMonster" was in fact pretty hilarious. But self-referential to an absurd degree.

And yet I enjoyed it. :)

Anyone else have such reactions?

Aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh.............................

Remember my issue wth the TS dvds? All in season 3. 6 episodes that were unwatchable (and consequently unrippable, more to the point). So VEI promptly sent me a entire season 3 replacement. Yay for VEI, yeah?

Like a fool, there I was, skipping around, thinking it was all sorted. And like a fool, I didnt get round to playing them until now.

ALL FAULTY. AGAIN. EXACTLY THE SAME EPISODES.

Needless to say I have written again to VEI. Dunno what the answer will be this time.....
