Yes, they're here! No bonus content, as far as I can see. Blair and Simon get mentioned about twice in the blurb on the back of the jewel cases (as associates!) and not at all for season 3! Synopses on each ep inside the case covers. I haven't checked yet to see how complete the eps are, but hell! It's still exciting!

Oh, how exciting! So what are you going to watch first? Are you going to binge or ration them out.:-) I haven't ordered mine yet. Did you have to pay any custom charges?
Looking at those covers you'd think it was a one man show!

:))
When all we've had for almost 20 years is copies of copies of increasingly truncated TV transmissions, - and don't get me wrong, I am enormously grateful to all those who kindly did DVDs of these for us all, and allowed latecomers to get to know the show - it will be amazing to see the eps in this quality (fingers crossed - haven't watched any yet!)

Love the icon, BTW ;)

At least the synopses mention Blair as if he's actually a major character. The blurb on the pilot talks about Jim "befriending " him. Funny, I always saw that the other way round. ;)

And it's the customs that's the killer for non-US fans. About half of what I paid goes in that - which SUCKS big time, man. >:(

Thank you for the icon compliment :0)

Any Pros fan can sympathise with that, those of us who like Illya and Napoleon were similarly disadvantaged if we lived in Europe.

Time Warner only released the vids as Region 1, and then a few as Region 4. The USA & Australasia/Oceania.

Region 2 was a long time in coming - and I bored everyone stiff when I finally got my mitts on my copies!

So celebrate away!

I wants it, precious. And I am going to get it, I just have to wait a wee while longer.

YAY!!! The covers look great. It's a shame they never gave Blair and Simon some of the spotlight too though. I hope you've watched at least 1 episode so far, you have, right?

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive. *pouts* Was the customs charge expensive? Assuming you bought it from VE.

Woot! I'm so out of touch I didn't even know the full series was finally making it onto DVD - how fab! Are they only region one? My poor DVD player has been hacked so many times now I don't think it'll take yet another unexpected change of region... poo! I hope you enjoy the goodies - they've been a long long time coming!

Apart from a quick check, I've not had a chance to watch ANYTHING so far. :( but might be able to tonight as I'm on my own.

Being in the UK I tend to lump shipping charges with customs in my mind, and the whole charge was HUGE (damn them). I think it was like half as much again as the cost of the DVDs themselves. IIRC for US customers the shipping was more reasonable.

Yep, region 1, but the laptop seems unfazed, so far. :))

A quick check is better than nothing at all. Have you been able to sit and watch anything yet? I've had a peek at a couple of eppies myself and YAY, they look good.

Yes, the shipping stung a little but it was worth it. I knew the extra charge was coming but had no idea how much it would be. While I import stuff more often that not the customs charges are usually incorporated somehow. *shrugs*

It's the customs charges that are the real killer, I find. But I just *had* to get these!. And no, I've watched nothing yet, absolutely no time to do so. :(((( My main task first will be to rip the eps so I've got them to work with then I can archive all my lovely bootlegged versions that I've acquired, and only have the Real Thing on my laptop - which will help free up a little space, in fact.
But what I saw ... Wow, it's almost a shock, isn't it? Seeing things in that quality, and for it to persist over the ep. What a treat! :))

I *had* to get them too. I hope that RL cuts you some slack so you can catch a breath and maybe find some time to watch an eppy or two.

Do you mind me asking what software you're going to use to rip the DVD's? I use Cucusoft and find it really hard to compress to a reasonable size and retain the quality I want. And yes, the quality is fab compared to what was previously available...the colours really pop on the screen.

I'm concentrating on capping the episodes first so I can make artwork and then after that I'll rip them.

I've got WinX Platinum - more by luck than judgement because I didn't really know how to choose which provider I wanted, but I've found what gets ripped works well for capping and vids.

The only glitch that I find with WinX is although there is an option to take clip or a frame from the original when it's in the program, every time I tried to do it, the system would crash on me. So now I rip the whole thing and then cap and vid from the ripped version (such that I do either, I am a baby vidder after all, and haven't got into photoshopping!)

WinX Platinum eh, thanks! I'll goggle it up.

If you rip an episode how big is the file roughly? In Cucusoft to get a decent footage in MP4 format you're looking at about 800mb file size, which is crazy big imo.

I cap direct from DVD. I play the DVD in PowerDVD (which is tempremental as hell) and either cap myself or use IrfanView to autocap. Occassionally I cap an individual scene from a ripped file after the event but not very often, only if I want a bigger selection of caps to what I have.

While I may have vidded for a while I'm still a baby vidder in a lot of ways myself. ♥

Season 1 ripped eps are around 526 MB each in WinX. If I cap I then open these ripped files in VLC media player, which I find very problem-free. Maybe it was you who advised me about it? I started to get huge probs with Windows media player when I wanted to cap, crashing all the time. VLC is free and works very well, IMHO.

That's not too bad a size, better than mine. I'm already pondering on getting it. It never hurts to have more than one option for ripping etc. Thanks for the info!

I use VLC to cap with as well (though mainly video files, it doesn't cap well direct from DVD). I have rec'd VLC to people in the past so it could have been me mentioned it.
