Aaargh... I seem to be managing at most a (small) piece of work every quarter, at the moment. Not a good ratio. On the plus side, I have manoeuvred this little offering so that it hits Sentinel Bingo ( for which it was in fact started) *and* Sen Thursday - and the new prompt that's just been issued. A spurious image of productivity….

I am failing horribly at Sentinel Bingo right now...

But the wonderful team on TS Chat (in which, sadly, I rarely have a chance to participate) came up with the fun idea to have a concrit excise, with everyone submitting 500 words or less on a particular theme.
It's got me to put pen to paper again. Maybe it'll free me up for some Bingo-ing....

I watched X-files last night - I had no idea they'd done a second season and so I've missed the first episode. Last night was about the death of humanity and the uploading of consciousnesses to a simulation which will then perpetuate the human experience, artificially. I think. I didn't have a clue what was going on most of the time. There were LOTS of dead bodies and bullets. Mulder was mumbling more than usual. But I absolutely loved it, and let the atmospheric nonsense just wash over me. I'm not going to torture my brain trying to work out how Langly managed to set up the whole gravestones thing - c'mon guys, I know this is X-Files, but farfetched or what? - but it felt like an ep in the sprit of the earlier shows, if still a little rushed, with lots of skating over the difficult bits.
And so good to see Langly again, even if he was somewhat disembodied! ;)

So, after most of 2017 being a wasteland in terms of creative writing, I have stunned myself by producing just over 22,000 words since the start of December.
This is primarily due to the encouragement from, and the enjoyment of participating in, the wonderful 'The Sentinel Secret Santa' challenge.

It was also nice to take part in "Discovered in the Bleak Midwinter" Professionals fandom challenge.

I haven't used DW for ages. Actually, for most of 2017 I was hardly using LJ. Things just didn't lend themselves to fandom.

Anyway, what with starting writing again for The Sentinel Secret Santa on LJ (Yay for TSSS!), and also something for the Pros Xmas challenge (yet to be posted) I thought I should renew my DW account subscription and actually *use* the darn thing.

So here is something that a friend has just sent me. Posters from the ISS - lovely to see how they develop over the years, no longer just bold and bright, but witty and knowing as well!

How many fandoms or cultural rferences can you spot?!

Slowly but inexorably, I seem to be falling off the grid. I don't want to, particularly, but it's like I don't have any say in the matter.

I was pretty ill from Dec with various things, one of which ended me up in hospital at the end of Feb. I still don't feel I've recovered properly from all of that. Meanwhile, although my kidney disease is still at usual levels (by dint of stringent management), something else is happening which the kidney consultant can't explain, so I have a referral to someone else. Appointment date yet to be determined.

Because of/as well as all this, I find I no longer have the emotional energy, let alone the physical, to engage. A lot of stuff is at the bottom of a deep well called I-Can't-Be-Bothered, and I have no inclination to pull it up. Fandom is down there, and I don't see it surfacing in the near future.

I will be pulling out of the Pros Big Bang - I have completely lost the mojo to write for the Lads. The TS Big Bang will probably go the same way. I am still reading TS fic when I can, and enjoying, and in fact it provides a good deal of relaxation. But Pros - nah. How can that be? Anyway, that's how it is.

If I write anything at all in the near future, it will have to be outside the strictures of a challenge deadline. Though I intend to continue taking part in the TS Icontest on LJ, because it is so much fun (and more people should do it!).

Some of you may have already noticed I haven't been much of a presence around here recently. I still skim LJ and DW (when I remember) but replying to posts seems in general to take too much energy. This is going to continue, I feel. No offence, just how it is.

To those who have been around in TS far longer than I, and recall the Moonridge zoo sponsorship, a question:

Reading the latest Big Bear zoo newsletter and then the website itself, I see there is a wolf called Blair (who weighs 130lbs!) born in 2009, and a female Mountain Lion called Cascade, who arrived as a cub in 2002.

I'm guessing the TS contingent had a hand in naming those animals?

Now, Day 4 was all about interacting, which I did enough of on Day 1, thanks.

Encouraged by Kernel's success at this, I've just used the importing tool to copy everything over from LJ. It took about an hour but it seems to have worked. Am quite impressed!

Okay, so I'm trying out Dreamwidth as it seems to be the thing to do, right now.

And I love this picture anyway, and feel it could be a motto for the new year. :)

(Though I gotta say, I'm already missing the LJ ability to direct-link to laptop albums...)
