A trial post
Jan. 2nd, 2017 06:50 pmOkay, so I'm trying out Dreamwidth as it seems to be the thing to do, right now.
And I love this picture anyway, and feel it could be a motto for the new year. :)

(Though I gotta say, I'm already missing the LJ ability to direct-link to laptop albums...)

Date: 2017-01-02 07:16 pm (UTC)The footer is the default one on the cross posting details page (forget the right term for it), at the bottom of that page. I was totally flummoxed by the instructions but then saw it said, 'if you leave it blank, you will get the default'. Yay for defaults! :)

Date: 2017-01-02 07:51 pm (UTC)I put my LJ details in, checked "always" for the adding of the footer, and then because I didn't rally understand the boxes at the bottom re. what happens when comments are disabled etc etc, I just left it blank so that the default text applies. Voila! ;)

Date: 2017-01-02 07:38 pm (UTC)Hee - great piccy, thank you!
Dreamwidth never seems quite as straightforward and obvious as LJ to me... I've started stumbling around over there too. Ho hum!
Are you using Photobucket for your pics?

Yes, I've used Photobucket for a number of years now. It's a pain with all the adverts, but it does the job of being a URL location.

Apparently there are concerns about security - have you seen this?

I'm not moving at the moment - I don't post stuff about my real life as a rule. But there is a risk that the personal data Lj asked for in order to register could become vulnerable. In my case this should be a data cul-de-sac. But it must be very worrying for people who have paid accounts or who have blogged personal information to their journals.
Or people who are responsible for comms.
I'm thinking about setting up a duplicate account on DW just to have a backup in case I decide to leave Lj abruptly or when I don't have much spare time to do a transfer.
At the moment though, I'm more worried about being ready for work tomorrow!
