Fandom Weekly challenge on Dreamwidth
Mar. 16th, 2016 08:21 amI am probably late to the party again here, but have just learned, via the lovely
alobear, about the Fandom Weekly Challenge/Competition on Dreamwidth. The rules etc are here:

but in brief, you post work of 1000 words or less written to a specific main prompt and get extra points for including a bonus prompt. The fics are the judged weekly by members of the comm.
I would not want necessarily to encourage people to forsake our comms on LJ for this, but it occurred to me that, as the 20th anniversary of The Sentinel draws near, taking part occasionally might help bring our own fandom(s) to the attention of writers and readers who have not come across them before.

You're so right about spreading the word.
I worry about Pros when we're all gone. There is younger blood in the fandom, but the series doesn't get a proper airing. And the fan fiction is sooo good. (Not to mention the actual source material.)
I'm hoping for a cult resurgence via DVD etc. because ITV haven't butchered the programmes, but they have cut them about and are showing them mid morning.
On the other hand Bargain Hunt got a huge student following so who knows - maybe there's an army of pre-schoolers out there being indoctrinated!
My old age may be dominated by vintage capri's being driven at breakneck speeds by retro clad twenty somethings.
I could live with that!
I'm rubbish with challenges. So I probably won't play. Party pooper, that I am :0)
